For the 2018 schedule, the WSOP has decided to add nine new events. Five of these new nine are replacing former events common to the WSOP schedule. An example of this is the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No Limit Hold’em event. This tournament will take the place of the $10k Tag Team event. The WSOP 2018 Schedule is out and Upswing Poker is here to break down the highlights for players looking for the best tournament action this summer. The official schedule for the 2018 World Series of Poker has been announced. A total of 78 WSOP gold bracelet events will be held between May 29 and July 17 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are many returning favorites on the schedule, as well as nine brand new events that have been added. One of the major changes of note this year is that 12 events are now slated to begin after the start of the WSOP $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event, which runs from Jul. 2-14.

“With today’s announcement, we hope there is enough time to adjust your holiday wish list,” said WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel. “We feel very good about the multitude of offerings on the 2018 World Series of Poker schedule and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Rio in Las Vegas this summer.”

Among the events that now begin after the main event is underway are: the $1 million buy-in Big One For One Drop no-limit hold’em event, the $10,000 six-Handed no-limit hold’em championship event, the $50,000 high roller no-limit hold’em event and “The Closer” a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em tournament with 15,000 starting chips and 30-minute levels

The nine new events that will debut in 2018 are as follows:

1. $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em (replaces the $10k Tag Team)
2. $100,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (new addition)
3. $365 PLOGIANT (replaces a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em)
4. $1,000 DOUBLESTACK No-Limit Hold’em (10,000 starting chips) (replaces a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em)
5. $565 WSOP.com ONLINE Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed (new addition)
6. $1,500 BOUNTY Pot-Limit Omaha (replaces a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em)
7. $1,000 DOUBLE-STACK No-Limit Hold’em (30-minute levels) (replaces a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em)
8. $1,500 THECLOSER No-Limit Hold’em (15,000 starting chips, 30-minute levels) (new addition)
9. $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (new addition)

Event start times will remain consistent with the past few years, with most weekday tournaments will getting underway at 11:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m., with weekend events most often starting at 10:00 a.m. and afternoon flights of same events kicking off at 5:00 p.m. The structure sheets for all of the events are expected to be posted on WSOP.com beginning in January, with online and in-person registration is expected to open in March.

Well, it’s time to get your dream on and the good news is more dreams will be fulfilled with 78 bracelet events on the official 2018 schedule.

The World Series of Poker schedule highlights

The tournament series will run from May 29 to July 17 and as expected, will once again be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The doors will open on May 29 for cash games, satellites, and tournament registration.

The first “Shuffle Up and Deal” will be uttered on May 30th as two bracelet events get underway. The tradition continues with Event #1 – $565 Casino Employees Event beginning in the morning, followed by the brand new Event #2 – $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold ‘Em starting later in the afternoon which is replacing the $10,000 Tag Team Event from last year’s schedule.

Players will be happy to see the popular, big -field events back on the schedule this year including:

  • Event #6 – $365 GIANT No-Limit Hold’EM (Starting weekly beginning June 1)
  • Event #7 – $565 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold’Em (June 2)
  • Event #21 – MILLIONAIRE MAKER No-Limit Hold’Em (June 9)

Some of the player’s favorite events are back as well:

  • Event #12 – $1,500 Dealer’s Choice 6-Handed (June 4)
  • Event #18 – $10,000 Dealer’s Choice 6-Handed (June 7)
  • Event #55 – $1,000 TAG TEAM No-Limit Hold’Em (June 27)
  • Event #62 – $888 CRAZY EIGHTS No-Limit Hold’Em 8-Handed (June 30)

And then there are the events designed with the poker playing professional in mind, including the brand new $100,00 High Roller.

What’s new at this year’s WSOP

The 2018 WSOP Schedule is sporting a brand new look by adding twelve events after the Main Event starts, including Event #68 – $1000 + 111 Little One for One Drop (July 7) and this year’s final event, Event #78 – $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop (July 15).

In addition to the new events already mentioned above, these tournaments will be making their debut this summer:

  • Event #11 – $365 PLO GIANT (Starting weekly Beginning June 3)
  • Event #67 – $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha event (July 6)
  • Event #71 – $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em (30-minute levels – two-day event) (July 10)
  • Event #72 – $1,500 Mixed 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha (July 10)
  • Event #73 – $1,000 “Double-Stack” No-Limit Hold’em (10,000 starting chips and 30-minute levels) (July 11)
  • Event #74 – $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship (July 11)
  • Event # 75 – $1,500 CLOSER No-Limit Hold’em tournament (15,000 starting chips and 30-minute levels) (July 12)

The Main Event

Event #65, The Main Event, also known as “the tournament everybody waits all year for” will start a bit earlier this year. The first of three starting flights will begin on July 2, meaning the final starting day will fall on July 4. The field is expected to combine on Day 3 of the tournament which falls on Saturday, July 7th. From that day on, players will continue to play every day through July 14th when the 2018 WSOP Main Event Champion will be crowned.

Like last year, live coverage of the event will be provided by ESPN and PokerGo. The WSOP will be releasing the structure sheet for this and all events starting in January, where play times will be optimized to accommodate broadcast schedules.

WSOP side events

The WSOP will once again provide cash games galore, the ever-popular Deepstack Tournament series and plenty of satellites to help you take your shot at the big time. A few notable side events include:

King’s High Roller Series

One-day events running every Friday- Sunday, June 1 – July 8.

  • Fridays at 8:00 p.m. – $25,000 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em
  • Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. – $25,000 Buy-In Pot-Limit Omaha
  • Sundays at 8:00 p.m. – $50,000 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em

Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em Tournaments

One-day events running daily from May 29 – July 15.

  • $235 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em tournaments at 1 PM.
  • $185 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em tournaments at 3 PM.
  • $365 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em tournaments at 7 PM.
  • $135 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em tournaments at 9 PM.
